My good friend James

Alright...  So get this!  The other day I was talking with a very dear friend of mine named James.  He's just your typical everyday joe kind of guy, that was unfortunately dealt a pretty rough hand.  A couple weeks ago he was driving, minding his own business enjoying a short break from an otherwise long work day...

All of a sudden... out of no where, he gets pulled over for what he believed was totally unnecessary.  I mean it's kind of a double edged sword if you think about it... I mean I just feel bad for the guy, but I think he might be taking a bit to personal...  I don't know...  What do you think??

Galena and Marimba

I grew up listening to the music of my parents, anything from Mozart to John Denver.  Some of my most notable favorites would include Genesis and Phil Collins once he went solo, Peter Gabriel, Michael Jackson and Steve Winwood.  I find myself nowadays very influenced by the folk music scene that seems to have exploded lately.  Listening to groups like Dawes, Mumford and Sons, thejonsproject, Sun kil Moon, Jose Gonzalez and Old Crow Medicine Show.  Listening to any of those groups while driving has got to be one of my most favorite activities.  A couple years ago I was driving up to Dubuque Iowa to play a show with the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra.  During my trip I was fortunate enough to drive through the town of Galena.  I instantly loved Galena.  A quaint sleepy town tucked away in the rolling hills of northwest Illinois.  I've lived in this midwest state for quite sometime and found it hard to believe that Galena was actually located in the same Illinois I knew.  A very pleasant departure from the endless flat plains pot marked with endless rows of corn and soybeans.  Not that there is anything wrong with that!  There is definite beauty to be found in that vast farm land, I guess it was just nice to see a change of landscape.  I was inspired to work on what I would consider one of my first serious film projects.  My first objective was to find and record a song that I felt best fit the images I had collected.  I chose "After the Storm" by Mumford and Sons.  Enjoy.
